In order to have a complete hinge set, you must order both hinges and pintels. Surface-mount pintels are most often used on smooth surfaces, i.e, wood, stucco, concrete block and brick. Lag-mount pintels are used most often on uneven wood and vinyl-siding surfaces. The choice of strap- or L-style hinges is based entirely on personal preference. The board and batten styles most often are ordered with the L-style hinges; the raised panel and louvered styles are most often ordered with strap hinges. Which Hinge Should I Order?
